Melissa Vega

Project Manager

Melissa plays a key role on a cross-functional team as a Project Manager by ensuring project objectives are accomplished to support HMI’s goals and impact. In addition to ensuring communications across teams, she creates and monitors project success criteria, deliverables, timeline, and budget methods to improve project efficiency and outcomes. Prior to joining HMI, she gained experience in operations at a medical device start-up company. She joined HMI in 2018 and began as an Executive Assistant where she established new organizational processes and administration standards.

Previously, Melissa earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with studies in International Studies and Spanish. After many years of volunteer work with nonprofits in equine therapy and international development, she decided to make a career in nonprofit work. In 2021 she completed the Project Management Certificate from the UW Madison Continuing Education Program to further her career at HMI.

Outside of work, Melissa and her husband love to spend their time cooking and baking new foods, as well as enjoying the outdoors. She loves to travel when she can to learn about different cultures and ways of life. Because of HMI, she has built a practice of meditation in her mornings and strives to learn more about wellness.
